Sukhodaya charitable society was registered in 1989.The founder and first president was Shri D.C. Kizhakkemuri. Many esteemed persons have served as Board Member and President of Sukhodaya Charitable Society, which has been working with philanthropic activities since its inception. It was founded by Sukhodaya Ayurveda Hospital for their philanthropic work. The Charitable society now has Dr. Reetha James as President, Dr. CV James as Secretary, Dr. Gladys James as Treasurer ,Dr Savio James as Vice President, Mr.Abhijith Unni as Joint Secretary Dr. Lysa Bijoy and Dr. Catherine Alvin as board members,were rendering selfless service with the members of the governing body. The funds required for the charitable activities of the society are collected from the Sukhodaya Ayurveda Hospital and the respected doctors of the hospital.The society working in the field of philanthropy has also received sufficient recognition for its strong work against Chickenpox in Cherthala in Alappuzha district and Kanjirapalli in Kottayam district. Then in the period of 2019-20, when the world was very scared due to the covid epidemic, under the leadership of Sukhodaya Charitable Society, many local residents and foreigners have been provided facilities to stay in quarantine and provided adequate treatment for the disorders related to covid. Many other services are being done in the field of treatment, education and public works. Apart from this, through the promotion of medicinal plants in the name of Ayur Village Project, it is possible to ensure the availability of Ayurveda to the people at all levels of the society and to make economic benefits to the people through medicinal cultivation. In this way, while individuals are benefiting themselves, the society is spearheading philanthropic activities such as devising and implementing action plans to save the society from debt. Apart from this, free medical camps are being conducted in the vicinity of Kanjirapalli to bring out the endless possibilities of Ayurveda and to provide medical assistance and other services to the needy patients. Through this, it has been possible to bring Ayurveda to thousands of people. For all these activities the society is getting good response from the public, concerned officials and people’s representatives. The Governing Body of this Society has decided to further expand the service area and carry out more charity based projects. Thus, the governing body is working tirelessly to make it a movement that provides help to people from all walks of life.
